Aug. 22, 2021 7:35 am
WAYLAND — Wednesday afternoon, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a semi pulling a livestock trailer tipping onto its side while attempting to pull into a private farm drive at 1573 Gabriel Ave in Wayland.
The driver of the semi was identified as William R. Peden, 54, of Tuscumbia, Missouri.
According to a sheriff’s office report, Peden lost control of his 2016 Freightliner about 12:30 p.m. while attempting to make a right-hand turn onto a private drive, where his front left steer tire dropped off the edge of the roadway.
Peden drove for a short distance west before the semi rolled onto its side.
He was in the process of delivering more than 700 small pigs to a farmstead.
The Wayland Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to assist in extricating the pigs from the overturned livestock trailer.
Peden was cited for failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
