MT. PLEASANT - A trailer load of turkeys took a tumble in a rollover accident on Wednesday evening. No injuries related to the accident were reported.
Ronald Paul Brown, 58, of Keswick, was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 218 near Mt. Pleasant when he lost control of the Freightliner he was operating, according to a news release from the Henry County Sheriff's Office.
The office received a 9-1-1 call about the accident at approximately 11:03 p.m.
Brown had driven the vehicle onto the east side shoulder of the roadway before taking evasive action in an attempt to regain control of the semi. Brown ultimately lost control of the vehicle, which caused the trailer of turkeys to roll. The driver was cited for failing to maintain control of a motor vehicle.
The Henry County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Mt. Pleasant Police Department, New London Police Department, Mt. Pleasant Fire and Rescue, Henry County Paramedics and the Iowa Department of Transportation Maintenance.
