Local governments clear Tuesday schedules
Jul. 2, 2023 10:01 am
The Fourth of July holiday on Tuesday has complicated the routines of several counties and cities in Southeast Iowa. See below for a list of what’s changed:
Washington County
The Washington County Board of Supervisors will not meet the week of July 3. The next County Supervisor meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11.
The Washington City Council will still hold its regular meeting this week, but on Wednesday, July 5 at 6 p.m., instead of the usual first Tuesday of the month.
Garbage pickup in the city of Washington is unchanged on Tuesday, July 3, but pickup regularly scheduled for July 4, 5 and 6 will instead happen a day later than usual.
Henry County
The Henry County Board of Supervisors will not meet Tuesday, July 4. The next scheduled meeting will occur Thursday, July at 9 a.m.
The manned recycling drop-off location in Mt. Pleasant will not offer manned hours for collection Wednesday, July 5. The manned drop-off hours will return to normal Friday, July 7 from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
Trash pick up for Mt. Pleasant will run as normally scheduled Monday, however, pickup for the following days this week will run one day behind schedule to accommodate the holiday.
Winfield’s normal Wednesday trash pickup will be pushed to Thursday.
Jefferson County
Fairfield’s City Hall and the Jefferson County Courthouse will be closed on Tuesday.
The Board of Supervisors’ meeting, which is normally Monday mornings, will be moved to Wednesday, July 5 at 8:30 a.m.
For Fairfield residents, utility payments can still be made online or put in the drop box at city hall.
The Fairfield Public Library and Parks & Recreation also will be closed on Tuesday, with normal hours the following day.
There will not be trash pick up on Tuesday due to the holiday, so pick up will be delayed by one day.
