Local groups band together for booth at Iowa State Fair

The City of Mt. Pleasant, the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, Main Street Mt. Pleasant, Iowa Wesleyan University and Midwest Old Threshers have once again joined forces to sponsor a tourism booth at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 11-21 in Des Moines.

Volunteers from each organization will work together greeting visitors, answering questions and distributing information to promote tourism and educational opportunities in the greater Mt. Pleasant area.

Over 100,000 visitors walk through the gate at the Iowa State Fair on a daily basis. Mt. Pleasant?s booth will be located in the southeast section of the Varied Industries Building on the Grand Concourse.

Lori White, general manager of STAATS Custom Awards in Mt. Pleasant, and Matt Rohe, store director of Mt. Pleasant?s Hy-Vee, were instrumental in their companies sponsoring the t-shirts being worn by the volunteers working in the tourism booth.

The shirts are purple and white, representing Iowa Wesleyan University?s school colors, and promoting tourism by stating on front: ?Mt. Pleasant?a blue ribbon destination.?
