Fairfield Mayor Ed Malloy visited Derek Philip?s fifth-grade class at Fairfield Middle School Wednesday to talk about local government. Part of the class?s curriculum is knowing the three branches of government at the state and federal level and their responsibilities, as well as knowing about local government and its responsibilities. The students learned how local government is similar and different from state and federal government, the duties of the mayor and city council, and even learned how to run a city council meeting.
