Local magistrate appointed to District Court

Henry County magistrate Wyatt Peterson, 40, was appointed to the District Court in the Judicial District 8B by Gov. Kim Reynolds Wednesday, June 27.
Peterson, of Winfield, received his law degree from the Drake University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University. He currently serves as a part-time judicial magistrate in the Eighth Judicial District and a partner in the Peterson Law Firm.
Judicial District 8B includes Louisa, Henry, Des Moines and Lee counties. It is unclear when Peterson will be sworn in.
The seat was vacated December 2017 when District Judge John Linn retired. Current district judges are Mary Ann Brown, Michael Schilling, John Wright and Mark Kruse.
