Local PTA hosting Kids? Christmas shopping event

Kids: Want some help in getting that Christmas gift for mom and day?

Your opportunity is approaching.

The Mt. Pleasant Community PTA is hosting its 18th annual Kids? Christmas Shopping Event Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Van Allen Elementary Gym from 8 a.m.-noon.

Students in grades K-6 are welcome to bring their shopping lists and money and urged to come early for the best selection.

Students are allowed to spend up to $30 for gifts ranging from $1-$7. Santa?s helpers will accompany the children to help select gifts and even wrap them.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children to the gym and help them fill out how much money they have to spend and who they are shopping for. Parents can then turn over the list to one of Santa?s helpers and enjoy a cup of coffee or cocoa while their children shop to their heart?s content.

PTA has gathered a wide variety of items to purchase with the help of generous contributions from local businesses and community partners. All proceeds are divided back between the schools.

The PTA is look for Santa?s bakers for Saturday?s event ? donations of baked good for the Kids? Christmas Bake Sale. Those wishing to donate should contact Marci Adams at 319-217-0805.

Santa will be visiting during the shopping event and children will have the opportunity to be photographed with Santa.
