With forecasters calling for a high of 82 and low of 63 with clear evening skies, Fairfield residents can expect near-perfect weather conditions for Fairfield?s Fourth of July celebration and fireworks display Thursday at Waterworks Park.
The Van Buren County Jaycees again will be hosting Fairfield?s Fourth of July celebration. The fireworks display is slated to begin between 9:30-10 p.m. The $3,000 show is expected to last approximately 20 minutes.
Those looking for family fun should come to the park early in the day. There will be activities for children throughout the afternoon including a petting zoo and train rides. A child?s pedal pull will be held at 1:30 p.m.; registration for the event is at 1 p.m.
Food vendors will be serving hand-breaded tenderloins, cheeseburgers, barbecued pork sandwiches, chicken strips, french fries, walking tacos, popcorn, hot dogs, candy bars, root beer floats, Gatorade, iced tea, soda and more.
More than 25 additional vendors will be selling jewelry, Avon products, Thirty One bags and gifts, Jamberry Nails, and more.
Niccole Giberson will provide vocal entertainment at 7 p.m. She will conclude her performance with the National Anthem and the fireworks display will immediately follow.
There will be a free-will donation for those who want to contribute to next year?s fireworks display, and the Jaycees also will be selling glow necklaces to help fund the 2013 Fourth of July show.
