FAIRFIELD – A Jefferson County man left a large bequest for the Maharishi Foundation upon his passing.
Evans Galicinao Beltran lived in Jefferson County, and was part of the Transcendental Meditation community for more than 40 years, according to a news release from Christy Barker Vickerman. In December, after his passing, Beltran’s estate bequeathed $200,000 to the Maharishi Foundation USA for its charitable and educational purposes, in order to establish an endowed scholarship fund.
The income from the fund will go toward Transcendental Meditation teacher training and education. A second, similar distribution from the fund is expected this spring for the scholarship program.
The news release stated that Beltran came to Maharishi International University after a “substantial and brilliant student career in the Philippines. He enjoyed and was devoted to his Ayurvedic lifestyle and the TM Community.”
Dr. John Hagelin, left, receives a bequest of $200,000 from Sheri Blough Neff, the executor of the Evans Beltran estate. Hagelin is Chief Executive Officer of Maharishi International University and the Maharishi Foundation U.S.A. The bequest from Beltran will go toward Transcendental Meditation teacher training and education. (Photo courtesy of Christy Barker Vickerman)
