WASHINGTON — Main Street Washington has extended its search for a new Executive Director. The program, which has raised over $15 million since its founding in 2008, is filling a vacancy with the recent departure of Sarah Grunewaldt.
While the initial deadline closed recently, it has now been extended to Sept. 30. Main Street Washington Board President Maddie Widmer said the group needed more time.
“We wanted to ensure that we were able to cast a very wide net and attract the best candidate possible,” she said. “We also felt it was best that the hiring committee have as many candidates as possible to interview to make sure that all the needs of the organization are met. We also understand that summer is a busy time for people and wanted to give folks the chance to apply if they were interested.”
Widmer said the board was looking for a new leader “with experience or education in fundraising/finance, volunteer recruitment, historic preservation, urban design, marketing, economic development, special event planning, small business development, and/or management experience.“
