Tuesday night, Main Street Mt. Pleasant went live on Facebook with Shannon Baker, the head chef at Walt's Taproom. The 32-minute video followed Baker as she demonstrated how to make homemade chicken Alfredo, a meal two might share for the upcoming holiday.
'Sunday is Valentine's Day, and it's also going to be real cold,” Baker said as she started off the video. 'Maybe instead of going out or ordering take out, you could make some Alfredo for your honey.”
Though Baker was specifically making chicken Alfredo, she mentioned that the recipe could easily be substituted for steak, shrimp, or some other form of protein. The same could be said for the pasta.
'Alfredo is super easy to make,” Baker said. 'It's one of those dishes that seems fancier than it is.”
Throughout the video, Baker gave helpful tips for cooking, such as to add the onions before the garlic as onions take longer to cook, be careful not to burn the garlic or the cream, and always wash your hands before and after handling raw chicken.
In addition to making chicken Alfredo, Baker made a simple garlic bread to go along with the meal.
'There's no wrong way to make garlic bread as long as there's butter and garlic in the end,” she said.
Both the recipe and the video can be found on Main Street Mount Pleasant's Facebook page.
