URBANDALE (AP) ? An 8-year-old girl is recovering after nearly drowning in an apartment pool in Urbandale.
Police say a maintenance worker said the girl at the bottom of the Westpoint Apartments and Townhomes around 9 p.m. Friday.

Officer Randy Peterson says the girl started spitting up water immediately. She was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
There is no lifeguard at the pool, but several other people were swimming at the time.
It wasn't immediately clear who was supervising the girl. Her parents were not present at the time.
Police did not identify the girl.
