Live Healthy Iowa, a component of the Iowa Community Transformation Grant and Healthy Henry County Communities, encourages you to create a team and join thousands of Iowans in its 12th annual Wellness Challenge.
This 10-week challenge begins Jan. 28 and ends April 5.
Don?t know how to sign up? It?s easy: Log on to livehealthyiowa.org and create a team of two to 10 friends, family members or co-workers and have your team captain register under the Group ID: LHIHENRY.
Under this ID, individuals will be able to see where their team ranks amongst others in the county. This will create some friendly competition to help keep everyone motivated.
?Live Healthy Iowa is one way to unite community members and have participants working towards the same goal: improving their health. It?s wonderful to see individuals working together to accomplish a common goal and we are always striving for a healthier, happier community,? said Lindsay Remick, Wellness Coordinator for Healthy Henry County Communities and Henry County Health Center.
?There is no better feeling than knowing you are improving your health to live a healthier, more productive life,? she continued
Teams can participate in the minutes of physical activity and/or weight loss division.
The required online tracking is easy. Each team member, or captain, will enter their minutes of physical activity each week and/or their current weight.
Live Healthy Iowa will then calculate the team?s total weight loss percentage and minutes of physical activity. Your personal information is only seen by you.
To participate, there is a registration fee, which can be reduced with a coupon from Hy-Vee stores or on their website: http://www.hy-vee.com/health/live-healthy-america/default.aspx. Only one coupon per team is required.
Registration also includes a training t-shirt, a one-year subscription to a health related magazine, access to videos and workout plans, weekly motivational e-mails containing healthy tips and recipes and chances to win incentives and prizes.
