Man arrested at Mid-American substation

AINSWORTH — Washington County Sheriff’s deputies arrested David Leon Holmes of Fort Madison at a Mid-American energy substation Saturday night, accused of trespassing on utility property and 3rd degree burglary.

A media report on the incident from the sheriff’s office said Holmes was spotted on a motion detection camera wearing a backpack and a mask.

“It was discovered that the suspect had used a metal bar to try and pry open a door to a building inside the fenced commercial power yard,” a court document on the case said. “Officers also noticed fresh pry marks on the door to the building and the metal bar … dropped outside the door, most likely when he was caught inside the facility.”
