Man pleads not guilty in slaying
MARSHALLTOWN (AP) ? A December trial has been scheduled for a 30-year-old Marshalltown man charged with murder.
Online court records say Jeremy Gartin has pleaded not guilty to killing 59-year-old David Warnell, of Garwin. Police say Warnell?s body was found in Gartin?s home on Oct. 1. He?d been shot.

MARSHALLTOWN (AP) ? A December trial has been scheduled for a 30-year-old Marshalltown man charged with murder.
Online court records say Jeremy Gartin has pleaded not guilty to killing 59-year-old David Warnell, of Garwin. Police say Warnell?s body was found in Gartin?s home on Oct. 1. He?d been shot.
Fifty-five-year-old Max Nelson also is charged in the case. He?s pleaded not guilty to charges of being an accessory, theft, and abuse of a corpse. Court documents say Nelson has said the shooting was related to a drug deal.
Court records say the trial date for both men is Dec. 10.
