How will your high school experiences help you in coming years?
I feel like high school has helped me realize who I truly am as a person. My confidence has gone way up and I am more comfortable going out of my comfort zone. With participating in sports I know how to work on a team and am more capable of communicating.
Fondest memory of high school?
My fondest memory of high school was winning Homecoming queen. By winning, it proved to me that people in school actually liked me for being myself. Being able to see all of the people that were happy for me was such a confidence booster. It encouraged me to continue being kind to everyone around me and know that it didn’t go unnoticed.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on your education and why?
Almost all of my teachers had a huge impact on my educational career and just my life in general. I could talk to almost any of them about whatever I needed to and they would willingly take time out of their busy schedules to help me. These teachers include Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Alspach, Mrs. Bliven, Mr. Chiri, Mr. Garvey, Mr. White and Ms. Schroeder.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you?
My biggest role model is my brother. There is not a day that I don't think about Cale. When Cale was going through chemotherapy he never once complained and always said “I’m good.” Cale is the reason that I have such a positive attitude toward life. I hope that someday I can half of optimistic as he was.
What is special about your high school?
Coming from such a small school can have many advantages. With my class being only 35 I have been able to be friends with everyone at one point or another. There is never a dull moment and everyone gets along generally well. Also because the school is so small we can have more 1-on-1 time with teachers allowing us to become better students overall.
If you could go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself?
The first thing I would say would is to take advantage of the school system. You should care about your grades freshman year instead of waiting until senior year. The second thing would be don’t take anything for granted. With COVID I could've lost a lot more than I did. You never know when life is going to throw you for a loop. The last thing would be don’t rush anything. I know it seems like you have all the time in the world and it lasts forever but it doesn’t. I blinked and I was already a senior applying for colleges.
