Marilyn F. McIntire of West Des Moines, IA, 80, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, March 24 2012. Funeral services began with Visitation at Iles Funeral Home-Westover Chapel in Des Moines from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 27, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 AM Wednesday, March 28, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in West Des Moines.
Born in Thornton, IA, she grew up on a family farm and was a student of the Thornton school system where she was valedictorian of her high school graduating class. She moved to Des Moines at the age of 17 where she has since been a life-long resident.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Harold J. McIntire in 1995, her parents Floyd and Bernice Bentz, her brother Robert and her grandson Joshua Huey. She is survived by her immediate family members, daughter Kimberly McIntire of Des Moines, her grandchildren Connor and Katie Huey, and her son Brian McIntire of Los Angeles. Her extended survivors include brothers- and sisters-in-law Bob and Arlene Haifley, Marilyn Kane, Jim and Mary Helen Vorwerk, Doug Dickey, Jim and Pam Cubbage, and Steve and Becky McIntire - and their children and grandchildren. McIntire family members that preceded her in death include Dale McIntire, Janet Dickey, Don Kane and Jack and Carol Meyers.
