Martin Donald ?Marty? Hellweg, 52, of rural West Point, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital, in Ft. Madison.

Martin Donald ?Marty? Hellweg, 52, of rural West Point, died on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital, in Ft. Madison.
Friends may call after noon on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015, at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home, in West Point. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., that evening at the funeral home. Following visitation, his body will be cremated. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 23, 2015, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, in West Point, with Rev. Dennis Hoffman as celebrant. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery, in West Point.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the West Point Fire and Rescue or the West Point Fireworks Committee. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.schmitzlynkfuneralhome.com. The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home, in West Point, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Hellweg was born on April 8, 1963, in Ft. Madison, the son of Donald and Jean (Rauenbuehler) Hellweg. On April 17, 2004, he married Janet (Gabel) Knight, in Ft. Madison.
He graduated from Ft. Madison High School and truck driving school. After school, he worked as an over the road truck driver, then worked for Chem Gro, Steffensmeier Welding, Holtkamp Trucking, and Agrineed.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends.
Hellweg is survived by his wife; step-son, Justin Knight; two brothers, Rick (Deb) Hellweg; and Larry (Rita) Hellweg; and two sisters, Donna (Terry) Simmons; and Lisa (Greg) Whitmore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dixie Wilson.
