Mason City man waives right to speedy trial
MASON CITY (AP) ? A Mason City man who?d been scheduled for a murder trial later this month has waived his right to a speedy trial.

MASON CITY (AP) ? A Mason City man who?d been scheduled for a murder trial later this month has waived his right to a speedy trial.
A notice was filed in Cerro Gordo County District Court on Monday for Thomas Barlas Jr. He?s charged with first-degree murder, accused of stabbing to death 73-year-old Thomas Barlas Sr. at the elder Barlas? home in Mason City on July 18. Thomas Barlas Jr. remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, pending bail of $500,000.
