Max E. Hollander, 95, of Fairfield, died on April 7, 2017, at Sunset Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Winfield.

Max E. Hollander, 95, of Fairfield, died on April 7, 2017, at Sunset Terrace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Winfield.
Funeral service and visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at First Lutheran Church, 201 W. Briggs Ave., in Fairfield, with Rev. Greg Friedrich officiating. Hollander was born on Feb. 10, 1922, in Salina, the son of Paul Clifford and Irene Eveline Hillman Hollander. He was a 1939 graduate of Fairfield High School. He married Maizie Berg on Feb. 18, 1943. She preceded him in death. He served his country from 1942 to 1945 in the European Theater of Operations during World War II constructing air strips.
He was a farmer, and owned and operated Hollander Insurance.
He was a member of Clara Lutheran Church, of Salina, and the First Lutheran Church, of Fairfield.
Hollander is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ann (Bill) Young, of Des Moines; Karen Bush, of Ankeny; his granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maizie Berg Hollander; his parents, Paul C. and Irene Hillman Hollander; his brother, Paul Hollander, Jr.; and his grandson.
