McAdams hired as new Fairfield chamber director

FAIRFIELD — The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce announced that Mendy McAdams has been hired to be its new executive director.

McAdams has spent the last three years as the Assistant Director at The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center. She said she’s excited for the new opportunity to work with many of the same people she’s come to know through her job at the arts center, and to meet new faces.

“The chamber has some great events, and I’m excited to build on that legacy and add some new stuff,” she said.

Lindsay Bauer, executive director of the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, said, “We are so happy for our friends at the Chamber to have an asset like Mendy. We wish her all the best and look forward to partnering with her in this new capacity.”

In addition to her event planning and nonprofit experience at the convention center, McAdams also has been involved with numerous activities through The Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce. She graduated from the Ottumwa Leadership Academy in 2018, and is enrolled in the Fairfield chamber’s program called Leadership Fairfield, led by Jason Davis, president of the board of directors at the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Davis said he is thrilled to welcome McAdams to the chamber.

“We could not be more excited for the future of the chamber and the Fairfield community,” Davis said. “Mendy not only brings a wealth of experience but also has a passion for Fairfield and the community.”

McAdams will begin her official duties as executive director on Monday, Feb. 21. The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center will host a Business After Hours on Thursday, Feb. 17. McAdams said it will be an opportunity to show off the arts center’s beautiful building one final time before she exits.

The chamber plans to host its own meet-and-greet for McAdams, though that date has not been announced.
