Meet the Candidates: Kevin Schrader

My name is Kevin Schrader running for School Board in Mt Pleasant, Iowa/ We have put 3 children through the system and now 4 grandchildren. Yes we are concerned.

Running as a way to give back to our community, to be a part of the decision making.

To promote a safe and productive learning environment for our students and staff.

To put hope, trust and transparency in our school board. To work for the community and see that their voice is heard and carried out. My agenda is the agenda of the people, period.

I am a good communicator and listener, I would enjoy good open communication.

Willing to adapt to the concerns of the people. Working in my own business for the last 42 years.

We have seen good times and bad times. Working through every situation to solve problems and overcome adversity.

I will be very transparent to the people who will help elect me. Using the resources available to fund our school.

My main accomplishments in life are, 1.Belonging to the Christian family

2. Marrying the right woman

3. Raising 3 children to be good citizens , and now helping with four grandchildren.

I think our focus for the future should be more focus on student education and educators and maybe a little less on structures, until we have a solid plan that adapts to the community.

I would like to see a closer realm of communication between elected personnel and the people of the community.

Iowa Wesleyan is a topic that may need to be looked at, neighborhood schools, grade-a-like, and master building plan all need to be looked at as well, with community input . The P.E.O. building may be gone, so let's look at Old Main and the Pioneer Building and see what their future may be.
