Mehaffy case now considered a runaway

Karyn Renee Mehaffy?s disappearance is no longer being considered an abduction, according to the Henry County Sheriff?s Office. Mehaffy is now classified as a runaway.
The change was made based on new information. According to the sheriff?s office, Mehaffy and Wilfredo Martinez Gonzalez, 20, were seen together at a family residence Saturday in Indiana. Mehaffy did not appear to be in distress, the spokesperson said, and the pair drove to the residence in separate vehicles.
Where the pair went from there is not known. The sheriff?s office said it does not know where Mehaffy is currently located.
In a press release issued Friday night, it was reported that Mehaffy, 16, of Winfield, was abducted in the 300 block of South Olive Street at approximately 8 p.m. Friday evening. The release said she could be in the company of Martinez.
According to a report on a Quad Cities? television station, Mehaffy reportedly wanted to be in a relationship with Gonzalez.
Mehaffy is 5?3? with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing green skinny jeans and a black sleeveless T-shirt.
