Men face charges following drug bust

Two Mt. Pleasant men were arrested on Oct. 17 for drug offenses following the execution of a search warrant at 804 W. Irish Ridge Rd. lot 25 in Mt. Pleasant.

Roberto Gonzalez, 30, and Anthony Baca, 19, were charged with three counts each of conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine. All are Class C felonies, each of which is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

During the execution of the search warrant which followed a lengthy drug investigation, methamphetamine, marijuana, packaging material, U.S. currency and paraphernalia were located at the residence.

Mt. Pleasant police were assisted in the execution of the search warrant by the Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement and the Henry County Sheriff?s Office.

The investigation, police say, was partially the result of concerned citizens assisting by calling in suspicious activity. Mt. Pleasant police continues to encourage citizens to call in any suspicious activity to their local law enforcement agencies.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
