Metcalf joins police force
A tradition was continued by 37 graduates when commencement was through June 29 at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Johnston. Among those taking part was rural Fairfield resident Kris Metcalf who had his badge pinned by Chief Tom Baker of the Fairfield Police Department and officially welcomed Metcalf to the force.

?Every graduate can request someone special to pin them,? said Metcalf. ?People have asked me why not my wife or my parents and I would have loved to have them too but I wanted the chief to pin me because he is someone that I admire and look up to. I see him as a mentor.?
