Michael Lex Nichols, age 61, of Fort Maddison, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Michael Lex Nichols, age 61, of Fort Maddison, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at the Hospice House in Ottumwa, Iowa.
Mike was born on June 30, 1955 to Avin and Audrey (Garmoe) Nichols in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. He grew up in Swedesburg, Iowa attending Waco High School graduating with the Class of 1973. He then attended DMACC in Des Moines for two years. Mike worked as an equipment operator/manager at Cessford Construction for 25 years.
Mike was a buck skinner in his early years. He enjoyed being outdoors, antique tractors and steam engines and attending the annual steam engine shows in Mount Pleasant and Shelbina, MO. His real joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his brother, Tom (Kim) Nichols of Eldon, Iowa; his sister, Sarah Nichols of Bloomington-Normal, Illinois and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Avin and Audrey and a sister, Susan Scheider.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Glasgow Cemetery in Jefferson County.
Memorials have been established to Hospice of Ottumwa or Northeast Missouri Thresherman?s Assoc.
