Visitation is scheduled for 9 a.m., July 15, 2015, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, in Huntley, Ill., with a funeral mass beginning at 10 a.m. Inurnment will follow at St. Mary?s Cemetery, with a reception immediately following at the church. Michael Terrence McSweeney, 78, of La Quinta, Calif., died July 4, 2015, at his home.

McSweeney was born Jan. 28, 1937, in Rockford, Ill., the son of John and Julia McSweeney.
He married Louise in 1960. He graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1961, with a degree in economics, remained active in the NIU Alumni Association, and retired from a career in direct marketing in 1997. His career included chief management positions with DIMAC Marketing Corporation, in Missouri; Bear Creek Corporation, in Oregon; Harlequin Enterprises, Ltd., in Ontario, Canada; and Metromail Corporation in Iowa, New York, Nebraska and Illinois.
Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, an avid motor home enthusiast and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
McSweeney is survived by his wife, Louise; his sister, Sr. Jean; his sons, David (Laura) McSweeney; and Mark (Cheryl) McSweeney; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Julia; his brother, Tom (Joan) McSweeney.
