Mickey ?Mick? Martin, 65, of Farmington, died on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Friends may call after 1 p.m., on Friday, May 20, 2016, at the Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., that evening at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at the Sharon Presbyterian Church, in rural Farmington, with Rev. Mary Ann Welch officiating. Burial will be at the Sharon Cemetery, in rural Farmington, with full military rites presented by the Farmington American Legion Richardson Anthony Post #231.
A memorial has been established for the Farmington Fire Department and the Sharon Presbyterian Church. The Schmitz Funeral Home, in Donnellson, is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.schmitzfuneralhomes.com.
Martin was born on May 16, 1950, in Farmington, the son of Glenn William and Anna Marie (Griswold) Martin. He was a 1968 graduate of Harmony High School. He then graduated from Centerville Community College. During the Vietnam era, he served with the NATO - United States Signal Battalion, in Germany. On Sept. 7, 1974, he married Diane Schlabaugh, in Kalona.
He worked as a mechanic at Jim Baier Ford and then worked at Harmony Schools. Until his retirement, he worked as a utility manager at Climax Molybdenum. He also served on the Farmington Fire Department and was a Farmington EMT.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, being outdoors, hunting, motorcycle riding and racing.
He was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Diane, of Farmington; one daughter, Jessica (Jon) Trosvig, of Mendota Heights, Minn.; one son, Eric (Lori) Martin, of Donnellson; two brothers, Ronald Martin, of Temple, Texas; and David (Sue) Martin, of Burnsville, Minn.; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
