Face Coverings: Required for all
The Mid-Prairie Community School District will return to classes 100 percent face-to-face on Aug. 24 with face coverings required for all.
For families who are not comfortable sending their kids to school, they have the option to choose the Mid-Prairie virtual academy or the Home School Assistance Program.
Face coverings will be mandatory for staff and students.
Students who want a face shield can be provided one by the schools. Special considerations will be made by the school for those who have medical or special education conditions and certain outdoor classes.
Mid-Prairie schools are defining face coverings as a paper mask, cloth mask, face shield and gaiter, as long as it cover the nose and mouth.
On Sept. 28, the school board will review the face-covering policy. If the policy is changed to voluntary, students can be switch to the virtual academy or the Home School Assistance Program.
Desk and counter dividers will be used when appropriate. Each classroom will have hand sanitizer and disinfectant with disinfectant sprayings in the evening.
If a student is sick at school, they will be sent to an isolation room, and the school nurse will determine the next steps.
If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they will isolate until they have no fever for at least 24 hours without the use of medicine, their symptoms have improved, and it has been at least 10 days since the symptoms appeared.
If they do not have symptoms, they will isolate until at least 10 days have passed since the positive test and they continue to have no symptoms since the test.
