Mid-Prairie FFA attends state conference

Eighteen members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter traveled to Ames for the Iowa FFA Leadership Conference April 16-18. Those attending from Mid-Prairie were: Tate Bombei, Ella Brunk, Quinn Callahan, Marissa Cline, Brock Fisher, Peighton Ford, Alexa Huber, Sydney Knebel, Blake Peck, Payton Peck, Brynn Northup, Gabi Robertson, Charlotte Sieren, Madelyn Sieren, Jacey Sisson, Allie Whetstine, Kelyn Yoder and Brynn Younge.
One member participated in a leadership development event. Gabi Robertson received fourth place gold for her Reporter’s Scrapbook.
Brock Fisher and Allie Whetstine took the Greenhand Test about FFA knowledge. Whetstine received a gold rating and Fisher received a bronze rating.
Quinn Callahan, Payton Peck, Kelyn Yoder and Brynn Younge competed in the Ag Sales skills CDE and received a gold rating by selling battery-powered grass trimmers.
The Ag Biotech team of Alexa Huber, Sydney Knebel, Gabi Robertson and Charlotte Sieren received seventh place with a gold rating. Huber received 10th place as an individual.
The Chapter Display showcased one of the chapter's agricultural advocacy activities, of presenting the Second Grade Ag Day last spring. This display was put together by Tate Bombei, Brynn Northup and Madelyn Sieren. The display received a gold rating and was in the 10 placings for all chapter displays.
Tate Bombei, Brynn Northup and Madelyn Sieren also assisted with the convention courtesy corp.
Six members of the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter received their Iowa FFA Degrees, which is the highest degree the state can award. The members receiving their degrees were: Alexa Huber, Blake Peck, Payton Peck, Gabi Robertson, Jacey Sisson, and Kelyn Yoder.
Marissa Cline and Peighton Ford represented the Mid-Prairie FFA chapter by serving as the chapter's delegates and voting for the new state officer team based on the candidates’ speeches. Jacey Sisson served as a member of the state Program of Activities committee and helped plan for future activities.
Ella Brunk was the chapter flag bearer during the second session.
The Mid-Prairie FFA Chapter was recognized as one of the six chapters receiving the Public Relations Award for promoting agricultural awareness.
Additional time was spent at the career show. The sessions the Mid-Prairie members attended highlighted the achievements of Iowa FFA members throughout the past year, and they had a chance to listen to inspirational speakers and presentations.
Members were chaperoned by Mid-Prairie FFA Advisor Elsa Schmidt and Student Teacher Kristy Thomann.
