WELLMAN — The Mid-Prairie school district approved a contract for soon-to-be Superintendent Brian Stone Wednesday night during a special meeting.
The $156,000 agreement largely resembles current Superintendent Mark Schneider’s, with one major difference: the new arrangement is a two-year contract.
“Mark has always taken a one-year contract, that’s not all that common in the state,” Board President Jeremy Pickard said. “We felt it was important to offer a multiyear contract, especially when someone is coming into the community … (It’s) a little unique to Mid-Prairie, but I think is appropriate to the situation we’re in and actually is pretty common around the state.”
Stone said it was exciting to have the agreement said and done.
“Obviously you’re anticipating this happening, but until everything is final, you just kind of wait for that,” he said. “I can’t wait to start working for such a wonderful school district and such a wonderful community.”
