Mid-Prairie High School presents ’Fiddler on the Roof’
Apr. 14, 2021 2:37 pm
This weekend, Mid-Prairie High School will present the classic musical, Fiddler on the Roof, with a special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye (Cooper Thomas), a poor milkman; his sharp-tongued wife, Golde (Kyra Helmuth); and their five daughters, Sprintze (Em Marner), Tzeitel (Elizabeth Meader), Hodel (Liv Caskey), Chava (Avery Slaubaugh) and Bielke (Ava Pence).
With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia.
Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy and sadness.
Directing the show is Natalie Silbaugh, while Christine Meader is assistant director.
Collette McClellen is the vocal director, and Lauren DiGiorgio is conducting the music.
Show times are 7 p.m., April 16 and 17, and 2 p.m., April 18.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Masks are required by all audience members.
