Matt Leeman, one of three final candidates the Mid-Prairie school board was considering for the district’s next superintendent, has withdrawn his name from the running.
A notice on the district’s website said Leeman removed himself from the list “due to timing and some recent changes in his current professional position.”
Hours after the district’s finalists were announced April 27, former Clear Creek Amana Superintendent Joseph E. Brown Sr. resigned from the position to focus on his own campaign for state senate. With Brown’s departure, Leeman went from the district’s associate superintendent to its interim superintendent.
Leeman did not reply to a request for comment.
The remaining candidates — current Fairfield High School Principal Brian Stone and current Solon High School Principal Zach Wigle — were interviewed by the Mid-Prairie school board and stakeholder teams in a closed meeting Monday night.
