MT. PLEASANT — Mt. Pleasant High School Assistant Principal Mike Wilson will become the principal next year, replacing Todd Liechty who leaves this summer to become the superintendent for Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock and Nashua-Plainfield school districts.
Liechty has served as high school principal since 2006.
“Handing it over to him [Wilson] was a good thing. I am from Mt. Pleasant, and I love Mt. Pleasant. It’s just a growth opportunity for me,” Liechty said.
Wilson has decades of experience with the Mt. Pleasant School District. He joined the district in 2000. For many of those years Wilson was high school assistant principal.
The appointment still needs to be approved by the Mt. Pleasant school board.
“Well I feel very fortunate to get this opportunity,” Wilson said. “I’ve been in Mt. Pleasant since 2000, and I’ve learned from a great principal and good leader. So it’s just the next logical step for me; It’s a growth opportunity, and it’s something I’m excited to do,” Wilson said.
The district now will start a search for a new assistant principal.
