Missing man had tried to help child in lake
KNOXVILLE (AP) ? Searchers have been unable to find a man who didn?t resurface after diving to help a 6-year-old child in an Iowa lake a few miles north of Knoxville and west of Pella.

KNOXVILLE (AP) ? Searchers have been unable to find a man who didn?t resurface after diving to help a 6-year-old child in an Iowa lake a few miles north of Knoxville and west of Pella.
The Marion County Sheriff?s Office says 25-year-old Derek Long and several family members were on a pontoon boat at Lake Red Rock on Sunday afternoon. The office says Long jumped into the water to help a 6-year-old child who was drifting away from the boat. Long dove under the surface and didn?t come back up. The child was rescued.
The search was to resume this morning.
