Monthly crop prices up slightly
Products show yearly price hike from last year, milk down 30 cents from November

DES MOINES — The average price received by farmers for corn during December 2022 in Iowa was $6.69 per bushel according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service — Agricultural Prices report. This was 19 cents above the November price and $1.15 above December 2021.
The December 2022 average price received by farmers for soybeans, at $14.50 per bushel, was 30 cents above the November price and $2.00 above the December 2021 price.
All hay prices in Iowa averaged $173.00 per ton in December. This was $1.00 above the November price and $9.00 above the December 2021 price. The December 2022 alfalfa hay price, at $186.00, was $10.00 above the previous month and $14.00 above December 2021. The average price received for other hay during December was $154.00 per ton. This was $2.00 above the November price and $6.00 above December last year.
The average price for milk was $24.00 per cwt, 30 cents below the November price but $2.60 above December 2021. Prices received for milk cows for dairy herd replacement averaged $1,670 per head as of Jan. 1, 2023.
