More on the line this time for Cardinal, Danville
In 2008, two winless football teams met in Danville before Cardinal posted its one and only victory of the season with a 21-0 win over the Bears.
One year later, Cardinal and Danville currently sit atop the Class A District 5 standings as two of three teams with undefeated district records along with WACO. Friday night, one of the two will tumble down the standings while the other keeps its top spot.

Cardinal, winners of its first four games of the season, lost the undefeated descriptor for the overall record with last week?s loss to B-G-M. For the first time, first-year head coach Darren Hill will see how his team can bounce back after a loss as they continue on the inside track for a district title and first playoff appearance in school history.
In what figures to be a defensive battle, big lines hope to control the line of scrimmage as Brody Blint leads the way for Danville and Austin O?Brien takes control for Cardinal. The two defensive linemen both lead their respective teams in tackles and look to shut down what each offense does best ? run the football.
Danville?s Chaz Williams and Joshua Stevens are set to split carries out of the Bear backfield as the two have combined for 672 rushing yards and five of the team?s 10 touchdowns on the year.
The Comets will counter with a potent running game of their own led by senior Jake Scherer. Quarterback Brandon Warren will also have a say in the Cardinal offensive effort with a good mix of running and passing.
The Bears are fresh off a thrilling 26-25 victory against Lone Tree ? a team Cardinal beat 13-6 in week three with a four-play goal line stand in the closing seconds.
With possible district title hopes on the line, the game will kick off at 7 p.m. in Eldon.
