More than 6,000 COVID-19 cases in Iowa

Iowa surpassed 6,000 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.
With 508 new cases, the state's total is 6,376. There are also nine additional deaths for a state total of 136.
Locally, Washington County saw two new cases according to the Iowa Department of Public Health, bringing the total number of cases in the county to 138.
Henry and Jefferson Counties had no new confirmed cases on Tuesday, keeping the two counties' totals at 32 and six respectively.
At her Tuesday news conference, Gov. Kim Reynolds said seven of Tuesday's confirmed deaths were residents of long-term care facilities. Seven new outbreaks among LTC facilities were also identified on Tuesday, bringing the total number of LTC outbreaks in Iowa to 23. Two weeks ago, Iowa had six outbreaks among its long-term care facilities. As of Tuesday, over 650 of Iowa's confirmed COVID-19 cases have been among LTC outbreaks.
Washington County's McCreedy Home has had 28 cases of COVID-19 so far according to IDPH data.
On Monday, Reynolds announced she would allow less restrictions for 77 of Iowa's 99 counties, including allowing restaurants to open back up. Jefferson County is one of the counties that will be allowed to loosen some restrictions beginning May 1.
During Tuesday's news conference, IDPH Director Sarah Reisetter shared additional guidelines for restaurants including enhanced cleaning, no seating in bar areas, wait staff must wear masks and dine in at restaurants can be by reservation only, meaning no walk ins.
The new details come after Reynolds lifted Iowa's ban on non-essential surgeries and allowed farmers markets to open again during her news conference on Friday. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources also said on Friday that campgrounds and other facilities at state parks would remain closed through May 14 for now.
Washington and Henry Counties are not able to loosen restrictions along with Allamakee, Benton, Black Hawk, Bremer, Dallas, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fayette, Iowa, Jasper, Johnson, Linn, Louisa, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Tama and Woodbury Counties.
