The Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce has announced Nancy Morrissey of Fairfield is the new executive director.
Today is Morrissey?s first official day in her new position, although she has worked at the chamber as administrator since 1993.
?I am very passionate about the chamber and believe fully in the capacity to market, promote and enhance the business climate in the region,? Morrissey said.. ?Working closely with the board of directors, there is tremendous potential for the chamber, the board and the staff I lead, to carry out our mission to expand our membership base, enhance our programs and services and take a fresh look at existing and new events, to make sure they meet, or exceed, the expectations of our members.?
?As the new executive director of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, I?m excited to take the next step in steering the chamber now, in 2013 and beyond,? said Morrissey. ?This is an opportunity to be part of a long standing tradition of local business excellence, as well as to help drive the progress of the Fairfield Area Chamber of Commerce, in our steadily changing business environment.?
Lori Knox continues as staff administrator at the chamber office.
The staff change was due to the former executive director, Tracy Vance, leaving the position July 1 to work exclusively as the fulltime executive director of Fairfield Economic Development Association.
The chamber?s prior agreement with FEDA required the executive director to spend only part of his time on chamber-related duties, while the remaining time was spent on FEDA-related duties. Splitting the time of a shared executive director will no longer be a concern for either organization.
