One motorist was cited for an offense following a two-vehicle accident on Monday, July 27, at the intersection of North White Street and West Broad Street in Mt. Pleasant.
According to the Mt. Pleasant Police Department?s accident report, a 1992 Chevrolet truck, registered to Chris Parker and operated by Shawn Hendricks, of Mt. Pleasant, was stopped at the stop sign facing west at the aforementioned intersection.
A black 2008 Toyota, owned and operated by Matthew Calcagno, of Mt. Pleasant, was traveling north on White Street and had the right-of-way.
The truck moved forward from the stop sign to make a left-hand turn into the southbound traffic lane. The driver did not judge the distance to the car correctly, the accident report said, and pulled out in front of it.
The Toyota struck the rear driver?s side of the truck. The car had damage to the front driver?s side quarter panel, estimated at $3,000. Damage to the truck was estimated at $700.
Hendricks was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Breuer?s Towing of Mt. Pleasant assisted the Mt. Pleasant Police Department at the scene.
