Mount Pleasant man sentenced to 60 months in prison for marijuana charges
Richard Westmoreland Mathias, 45, of Mount Pleasant was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for conspiring to manufacture at least 100 marijuana plants and for possessing with intent to distribute marijuana, reports U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt.
Chief U.S. District Judge James E. Gritzner also sentenced Mathias to four years supervised release.

Richard Westmoreland Mathias, 45, of Mount Pleasant was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment for conspiring to manufacture at least 100 marijuana plants and for possessing with intent to distribute marijuana, reports U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Klinefeldt.
Chief U.S. District Judge James E. Gritzner also sentenced Mathias to four years supervised release.
Mathias grew marijuana at his residence and at an additional property, and sold marijuana out of his home. During a search of his residence May 11, 2011, law enforcmetnt seized approximately 277 marijuana plants, which were located in the back yard, alng with plant food and watering devices.
The case was investigated by Mount Pleasant Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by he U.S. Attorney?s Office for the Southenr District of Iowa.
