Mt. Pleasant Arts IMPACT (Impacting Mt. Pleasant Arts and Culture Together) announced the winner of their logo-design competition. After reviewing entrants? designs at their most recent meeting, the IMPACT Board named Mt. Pleasant resident, Jenny Miller, as the contest winner.
Miller, daughter of Destin and Ellen Miller, is a freshman sports and recreation management major at the University of Iowa. In receiving the $100 cash award, Miller expressed surprise and appreciation at being selected, stating that the money would be put toward a non-denominational college youth group mission trip to Wuhan, China to provide care and support for orphans in that part of the world. Jenny Miller?s art teachers in Mt. Pleasant were Rebecca Bos and Michelle Peterson.
In presenting the award to her, IMPACT President David File stated that her design most visually and practically represented the group?s mission to, ?ignite and promote broad community excitement, support and growth of artistic and cultural activities in and around Mt. Pleasant.? He added that the board was pleased with the overall quality of all the entries and that it took much discussion to arrive at a decision.
