Jul. 25, 2019 1:00 am, Updated: Jul. 26, 2019 10:34 am
The City of Mt. Pleasant is taking another step forward in the process of getting pickleball courts as the city council approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to sign an application for a CAT (Community Attraction and Tourism) grant.
The $2,000 needed to fill out the application has been given by the Henry County Board of Supervisors and the project will move forward accordingly. Tennis courts on the east side of Mt. Pleasant Middle School have already been torn out and are ready for new pickleball courts to be placed once the finances are secured.
In addition to the grant, the Pickleball Committee has also applied for a Wellmark grant and has procured $31,000 in private pledges toward the project so far.
