MP driver arrested for driving under influence

A Mt. Pleasant resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol on Saturday, May 11, at approximately 12:43 a.m.

Rudi Noel Reyes Chiapez, 26, of Mt. Pleasant, was arrested and transported to the Henry County Jail on Saturday, after being stopped by the Henry County Sheriff's Office while driving a black 2008 Ford Focus in the 1600 grid of 235th Street west of Mt. Pleasant. Chiapaz was charged with driving under the influence, first offense, a serious misdemeanor.

Chiapez was also given citations for driving without a valid driver's license, open container - driver 21-years of age and older, and driving on the wrong side of a two way highway.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
