MP man pronounced dead from accidental drowning

A Mt. Pleasant resident was pronounced dead by accidental drowning in a private pond in Thursday, June 27, around 9:46 p.m.
Cori Diandre Fitten, 21, of Mt. Pleasant, was swimming in a private pond in the 2900 grid of River Road when he went under water and did not resurface. The Henry County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 7:34 p.m. The Henry County Sheriff's Office, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department and Iowa Department of Natural Resources all responded to the scene in an attempt to recover Fitten.
Fitten's body was located and removed from the pond over two hours later at 9:46 p.m. He was pronounced deceased on scene by accidental drowning.
