DONNELLSON ? The Mt. Pleasant softball team made a statement in their season opener at Central Lee on Wednesday night.
The Panthers plastered the Hawks, 14-0, in a game that only lasted three innings to start the year off with a bang.
Mt. Pleasant scored seven runs in the first inning and seven more in the third to reach the mercy rule over. The Panthers had 12 hits over the three innings.
Trinity Krabill had the big blast of the day, going 1-2 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jackie Fraise had a great start to the season as well, going 3-3 with a double, an RBI and a run.
Makayla Cam went 2-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs. Bailey Johnson went 2-3 with two doubles, and RBI and a run scored.
Allison Buckert went 1-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Anni Liechty went 1-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Cali Liechty went 1-1 with an RBI and two runs scored, while also pitching a two-hit shutout, walking just one batter and striking out four in the win.
Chi Glaha and Sarah Moffett each had an RBI in the game as well. Every single batter for Mt. Pleasant finished the game with at least one RBI.
The Panthers moved to 1-0 to start the season. They will be at the Louisa-Muscatine tournament on Saturday, May 27, where they will take on Columbus, Muscatine and Van Buren.
