MPCHS thespians to present spring play this weekend

Are you afraid of the dark?

Chauncey Stone is and his story is told in the Mt. Pleasant Community High School?s production of ?Afraid Of The Dark,? this weekend at the Heatilator Performing Arts Center.

The play, directed by Marlene DePriest, features Jaylon Cotton (Chauncey Stone) and Lillums Stone (Caitlyn DePriest) in the lead roles.

A mystery farce in three acts, the action of the entire play takes place in the living room of ?Stone Mansion,? an isolated country estate.

Chauncey and Lillums Stone arrive on a June night at Stone Mansion to spend their two-week honeymoon.

Stone Mansion has been lent to the newlyweds by Chauncey?s Aunt Alberta and is supposed to be unoccupied.

Soon after arriving, Chauncey has a confession to make to his wife: ever since childhood he has been afraid of the dark and has never been able to overcome this childish phobia.

No sooner has he told his wife of his fear, the lights go out and the couple is plunged into total darkness.

When the lights go on again, the astounded couple find themselves surrounded by fantastic characters in a supposedly deserted house and in the midst of a spy plot.

Other cast members include Patrick Epperson, Wyatt Carlston, Ally Lowe, Bethany Brooks, Hannah Stater, Russell Heerdt, Evelyn Kunch, Jared Batty, Mallory Swigart, Lauren Ralls and Levi Boston-Kemple.

?Afraid Of The Dark? will be performed Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.
