MPCMS team wins math bee

Mt. Pleasant eighth graders won the James Madison Invitational math bee on May 4. The team, advised by teacher Lucy Giehl, competed against nearly 100 other students from southeast Iowa schools.

Seven of the students placed in the top 20 individually (Jessica Holtkamp-5th, Ellie Conrad-7th, Jordon Phomsouvandara-10th, Cameron Watson-11th, Anna Steffensmeier-16th, Hannah Becker-17th, Sterling Wickham-20th). Holtkamp, Phomsouvandara, Conrad and Becker were the overall top-placing team.
