Mt. Pleasant child care center seeking director

MT. PLEASANT - After signing a letter of intent for the Family Video building, the Mt. Pleasant Childcare Center board has now put out applications for a center director.

In a job description provided by the board, the director would provide the 'leadership to ensure the provision of nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting at the center” and would report to the board of directors.

Responsibilities include helping to establish the center through grants and fundraising, preparing and submitting licensing documentation and later maintaining the center and its staff. The director would be in charge of interviewing and hiring staff as well as developing curriculum and positive behavior management plans.

The position requires applicants to meet and maintain certification through the Iowa Department of Human Services as a child care director and previous experience working with children.

Kristi Perry, executive vice president of the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance, previously said the board hopes to get a director hired by early 2021 and the center opened and ready to take in children by early summer.
