MT. PLEASANT - The Mt. Pleasant Fellowship Cup will provide Christmas dinner on Dec. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No advance sign-up is required, only proof of residence in Henry County.
In their newsletter, the Fellowship expected a similar number of guests as their Thanksgiving event. That event, held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, saw 194 households take home complete meals, with their choice of turkey or ham.
“We look forward to helping families create memorable holiday meals once again,” the newsletter read.
It has been through the community’s relentless support that Fellowship Cup has been able to meet these needs. The Cup thanked both Mt. Pleasant Elementary and Middle School for “donating tremendous amounts of food and money.” Thanks to their efforts, and many others similarly inclined, the food pantry, too, remains well-stocked for the winter months. This is not to mention the revenue generated from the Quarter Maybe More store, which the Fellowship Cup runs.
“We are deeply grateful”, the newsletter concluded, “To everyone who has given their time, resources, and kindness. Together, we make Henry County a caring and supportive place for all. Thank you for being such an important part of our mission.”
The Fellowship Cup is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. Boxes of groceries are typically distributed on Thursday, but exceptions are made.
Director Ken Brown remarked, “Just call ahead, and we’ll prepare a box (of food) for you.”
